Freedom is the cornerstone of Wyoming and America. Nothing is more personal than your health and health care.
Everyone wants health care reform. We all want costs reduced and better care provided for those who are least advantaged.
It is of paramount importance that personal liberty be respected in health reform. No matter how "necessary" some may deem it; it never, ever, makes sense to take rights away from one citizen to confer the guise of safety to another.
Unfortunately this is precisely what some individuals want to do with health reform. Either by government mandate, enforcement of the dictates of a government panel of "experts" or even simply the rationing of health care, your right to make decisions about your health and health care is being eroded.
The cornerstone of health care reform must be the protection and preservation of the rights of people to make their own health and health care choices.
Without that protection, lobbyists, bureaucrats and politicians will create rules and regulations that make it harder and more difficult to get any health care without the approval and authorization of the government and special interests.
Wyoming's Health Freedom Act safeguards the personal liberty of every Wyomingite by preventing government control of your health and health care decisions.
The Health Freedom Act says simply, "Health care reform, yes, but PROTECT FREEDOM FIRST!"
On Election Day, Arizonans can give the nation the gift of a good example. They can enact a measure that could shape the health-care debate that will arrest or accelerate the nation's slide into statism. Proposition 101, the Freedom of Choice in Health Care Act, would put the following language into Arizona's Constitution: [More...]
Health care freedom is a hot topic in state legislative circles these days. Recently Missouri made history becoming the first state to have its voters protect their right to make their own health care decisions.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (commonly referred to as Obamacare) is nationally unpopular and people across Wyoming have been asking what are our governor and state legislators doing about it?
Wyoming’s Future decided to ask the candidates. The voters of Wyoming need to know about their candidate’s stand on Health Care Freedom before the Tuesday August 17th primary elections.
Wyoming’s Future is a Gillette based advocacy group promoting health care freedom. Health Care Freedom is vital an important right that Wyoming must preserve for her citizens. This is an issue that deserves the support of every citizens, regardless of political affiliation.
The Wyoming Health Care Freedom Act will preserve the right of Wyoming citizens to make their own health care choices. It is similar to what was recently approved by votes in Missouri, and placed on the ballot in Colorado. The Wyoming version of the HCFA is different in one significant way; it explicitly declares the right for every citizen to make their own health care decisions.
The results of the survey point to a bright future for Wyoming. There is considerable support among our candidates for the governor’s mansion and the legislature. Support in broadest amongst Republicans with nearly all responding candidates earning a B+ or better. On the other side of the aisle Democrats are more likely to oppose the HCFA. Good news is there are several Democrats who are willing to voice their support for Health Care Freedom..
Wyoming’s Future conducted the survey of all the gubernatorial and legislative candidates from August 14 to August 15, 2010. Some candidates were unable to respond as they were campaigning prior to the August 17th primary election. The survey was distributed by email and asked three ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions to determine a candidate’s level of support for Wyoming’s Health Care Freedom Act. The three questions asked were:
The answers were scored as follows:
Individual candiates results are available here.
Congratulations to the voters in Colorado for placing the Colorado version of Health Freedom on the ballot for this election.
Many folks have asked why haven't we tried to petition to put Health Freedom on the ballot here in Wyoming? The answer is simple Wyoming laws regarding ballot initiatives are much stricter than in the rest of the US.
The best action every voter can take is to vote for candidates that will place the Health Care Freedom Act on the balot so Wyoming voters can protect their liberty.
Missouri citizen have overwelming declared their support for health care freedom!
Wyoming's Future applauds this victory for health freedom in the 'Show Me State!
Missouri State Senator Jane Cunningham summed it up perfectly saying, "My constituents told me they felt like their voices had been ignored and they wanted Washington to hear them... It looks to me like they just picked up a megaphone."
Senator Jim Lembke further explained that this is about reclaiming sovereignty for that states that make up the Union. He said, "First and foremost, this was about defining the role of state government and the role of federal government. Whether it’s here in Missouri with health care or in Arizona with illegal immigration, the states are going to get together on this now.”
Hopefully this should provide major motivation for all of state legislative and gubernatorial candidates to declare their support for Wyoming's Health Care Freedom Act.
Every candidate must clearly state if they are for or against Wyoming's Health Care Freedom Act. We must elect legislators and a governor who will protect our basic freedoms.
Recently the Richmond Division of the US District Court made a ruling rejecting the Obama administrations request for immediate dismissal of Virgina's challenge to Obamacare.
The ruling is worth reading. It is a clear victory for Health Care Freedom. It lends immediate support to Wyoming's Health Care Freedom Act.
Ultimately, we believe that the Virginian Health Care Freedom Act will be struck down because of the supremacy clause of the US Constitution.
We believe that the only way a state can protect it citizens is by amending the state constitution to include a clear and inalienable right for each citizen to make their own health care decisions.
The Wyoming Health Care Freedom Act will protect it citizens from an ever intrusive federal government because it makes a clear unequivocal declaration that your health and health care is your right and responsibility to maintain as you see fit.
